Week 5: What does the fox say?

Dear all,

I hope you have all had a good weekend. We are half way through Autumn term already, but we still have many more exciting events to come here at the York Tories!

On Wednesday, we will be hosting or (in)famous Fox Hunting Social! The rules are simple. The committee will be dressing up as foxes and everyone else will dress as hunters. The foxes will start first on a bar crawl around town and it is the job of the hunters to catch them up! No animals required. We will be meeting at 7.30pm in D Bar and our Events Officer, Matthew Dent, will be guiding the hunters on their way! Do join us for what is always an enjoyable event!

On Friday, we will be hosting our usual open committee meeting at 6.15pm in D/104. Following this, we will head to the Garden of India for our weekly curry.

Also, an advanced notice. On Wednesday 16th November, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting. This is the most important day in our calendar, as every single committee role is up for grabs. In order to stand or vote, you must be a paid member. We will be taking a register at the start of the meeting so it is essential you do this. Below, I have listed the incumbents and their roles. If you wish to stand for a position, you may wish to ask them some questions about their role.

Chairman – Beth Wright
External Vice Chairman – Jack Merrett
Internal Vice Chairman – Will Barnes
Treasurer – Sam Daley
Secretary – Eve Rimington
Publicity and Social Media Officer – Arthur Reynolds
Campaigns Officer – Stefan Schuller
Events Officer – Matthew Dent
Computing Officer – Alex Burn
Ordinary Officer – James Eyermann, Charlie Parkin and Sophie Whittingham

Also at the AGM, constitutional amendments may be proposed. You can see our current constitution on our website. Any member is able to propose an amendment.

Finally, if you haven’t already done so, buy your Christmas Ball ticket. Our guest of honour is Andrea Jenkyns MP – the woman who removed Ed Balls from parliament. If only she was a Strictly judge, then he may also disappear from our screens. Tickets are selling well so don’t miss out!

As always, have a great week and we look forward to seeing you at our events!
