From all corners of the country, the York Tories descended upon Cardiff, via both train and Megabus Gold. Glorious weather heralded their arrival and on their first evening they met up with fellow Conservatives from Cardiff CF for a delicious meal at Giovanni’s, a well-loved Italian restaurant in the centre of Cardiff  which boasts a stellar client base – from Tom Jones to Pavarotti to Gary Lineker. Following this meal, members headed off to sample the Cardiff nightlife, kindly guided by their hosts from Cardiff.

The next day was spent campaigning and members headed to the Cardiff suburb of Rhiwbina, where they campaigned on behalf of the Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Cardiff North, Craig Williams. Members enjoyed another fine day’s weather meeting local residents and travelling on the city’s fine commuter services out of Cardiff Central station. By the evening it was time to sample the local pubs, and the York Tories headed off to the Rummer Tavern, a nice old pub by Cardiff Castle, before heading elsewhere.

On the final day of the trip, members headed to Cardiff Bay, where they were given a tour round the beautiful Senedd building of the Welsh Assembly – a fascinating insight into Welsh politics and the devolution settlement. Some members also enjoyed a boat trip around the Bay, where they learnt about the history of the Bay and surveyed some scenic views. At the end of the day, members reluctantly caught their various methods of transport home; another successful York Tories event had come to an end.
