With the Scottish independence referendum fast approaching, it seemed appropriate in this of all years to celebrate the greatest Caledonian poet of them all with a Burn’s supper.
So, on Wednesday 22nd January seventeen members of York Tories enjoyed a delicious three-course meal at the Punch Bowl on Stonegate in York, including traditional favourites like cullen skink soup, cranachan, and of course haggis, neeps and tatties. The meal was finished off with a complimentary dram of whisky to which we toasted the future of the Union.
Following this we ventured into York for a few drinks, finishing at our favourite cocktail bar, the vaguely Scottish-sounding Macumba. A great night was had by all and we would particularly like to thank the Punch Bowl for their hospitality.
