On 22nd November 2013 the York Tories were very proud to welcome The Rt. Hon David Davis, MP for Haltemprice and Howden to the University of York.
David has had an extraordinary career in politics, holding positions such as Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, Chairman of the Conservative Party, Shadow Home Secretary and a candidate for Party Leader in the 2005 leadership contest.
David came to talk to us about his career, current affairs and his opinions. A well-known champion of civil liberties, he talked to us about the Draft Communications Data Bill (aka the “snooper’s charter”), HS2 and capital punishment, using reasonable and persuasive argument.
All those who attended enjoyed the visit and left the lecture hall with much food for thought. We thank David for his visit and look forward to welcoming more speakers in the near future.
If you wish to learn more information on David or get in touch with him, he has a well maintained website.
