This year’s Conservative Party Conference was held at the ICC Birmingham, and the society was proud to announce the biggest attendance yet.

On Saturday 27th September, Party Conference hadn’t even started. That didn’t however stop the York Tories. Today was the day the society and friends descended upon the fair city of Birmingham and a warm welcome was laid out for them in the evening.

Kicking things of was the South East Conservative Future Reception.  Members attended an event hosted by our friends from the South East. They enjoyed complementary drinks and canapés and enjoyed catching up with friends from the other side of the country.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Society proceeded to Yorkshire and the Humber CF Conference Meal with a special guest, Matthew Hancock MP. Matthew was elected MP for West Suffolk in 2010. In the most recent reshuffle was made Minister of State for Business, Enterprise and Energy having previously served as the Minister for Skills and Enterprise. He’s a rising star in the Government and an avid cricketer.

Members enjoyed good Chinese cuisine and great company. The evening was completed with a private Karaoke room. This happened to fall on the night of our Treasurer’s birthday (Happy Birthday Jordan!) who represented the society with his rendition of “SOS” by ABBA. It shan’t be forgotten in a hurry. Such a combination of events can only mean one thing – Party Conference had begun.
