The University of York student referendum that occurs once every three years is approaching – the referendum asking if YUSU should stay affiliated to the National Union of Students. The York Tories are supporting the ‘No to NUS’ Campaign.
It is the view of the York Tories that the NUS is undemocratic and wasteful. It is over-wrought with party politics and self-interest. Students don’t have control over it, it doesn’t listen to the views of students and it often works against student interest.
We believe that YUSU could save money and do more for its students out of the NUS, and so the society supports NO to NUS and we urge members and everyone else to do the same.
