On this day, York received visitors from the Taxpayer’s Alliance (TPA), a non-partisan, independent grassroots campaign for lower taxes. One of the TPA’s campaigns is the War on Waste, to expose government waste and make the case for lower spending and lower taxes. So when the War on Waste Roadshow came to town, the York Tories were more than willing to help.
A street-stall was set up outside Betty’s Tea Room and was there for several hours handing out leaflets and informing residents of how unwisely the Labour-run York City Council spends taxpayer’s money. For example, the new council furniture cost £1.4 million – residents weren’t too pleased about that!
We wish the TPA good luck as they move to Yarm. For more information about the Taxpayer’s Alliance, follow them on twitter
