From the 9th to the 11th of March a few members of the York Tories headed off for a short weekend in Edinburgh. The weekend started with the usual late night meal and a couple of pubs on the grass market. However, after a long journey and a full day of Uni, we were all tired and hit the hay.
The rest of the weekend was jam-packed. A few members visited the castle, which was apparently fascinating and had some amazing rooms. Others took in the beautiful paintings the art gallery had to offer…including a Da Vinci! Later on that afternoon the whole group met back up for a personal tour of the Scottish Parliament. A particular highlight was the Chairman being a wee bit cheeky and speaking in the microphone on a podium whilst staff were setting up for a National Woman’s Day event. The evening was a classic York Tories night out, plenty of drinking, laughing and eating! The majority of the group returned home around 4am after realising we had very few taxi numbers!
Sunday had a very sleepy start, but after a full Scottish Breakfast and plenty of coffee we were ready to go again! The group split, with half taking in the stunning sight Edinburgh has to offer, and some taking a trip to the zoo. Sadly none of us saw the pandas, although Catherine and Dan were like little children around all of the animals!
All in all a fantastic trip, full of haggis, politics and drinking. We all returned to York exhausted but with some great memories.
