On 2nd May 2014 the York Tories welcomed not one, but two speakers to the Ron Cooke Hub on Heslington East Campus for a campaigning workshop. Rory Bloomfield is the director of the Freedom Association and the Better Off Out Campaign – a particularly relevant campaign considering the upcoming European Elections on the 22nd May. Andrew Allison is the Campaign Manager of the Freedom Association and the former National Grassroots Coordinator for the Taxpayer’s Alliance.
Rory talked to us about the European Union, the elections and why he believes we are ‘Better Off Out’, whilst Andrew talked to us about running national and local campaigns. Afterwards members had an opportunity to ask the two experts questions. These ranged from a written constitution for the UK to the state-run East Coast Main Line.
This truly informative and useful session was followed by the traditional curry at the Garden of India with our guests.
