The York Tories regularly succeed in getting high-profile guest speakers to talk to students as part of our term activities.


Recent speakers include several high-ranking Members of Parliament, including: The Rt Hon Francis Maude MP (Minister for the Cabinet Office), The Rt Hon David Jones MP (Secretary of State for Wales), The Rt Hon Peter Lilley MP (former Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer as well as Financial and Economic Secretary to the Treasury) , The Hon Jacob Rees-Mogg MP and Robert Goodwill MP (Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Transport). The Association has also welcomed Parliamentary Candidates included Andrea Jenkyns (PPC in Morley and Outwood) and Will Goodhand (PPC for Middlesborough South and East Cleveland) as well as Daniel Hannan MEP.

Outside of Westminster we have also played host to several political thinkers and commentators, including Peter Hitchens (Journalist and Author), Madsen Pirie (Researcher, Author and Educator), Matthew Elliott and Jonathan Isaby (Former and Current Chief Executives of the TaxPayers’ Alliance), Daniel Nesbitt (Researcher for Big Brother Watch)  and Eamonn Butler (Economist).
