Honorary President and Vice-Presidents
UYCUA has an Honorary President who is often a Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for a local constituency, or incumbent Member of Parliament. In recent years these have included Julian Sturdy MP, Andrew Percy MP and James Wharton MP.
A variable number of Honourary Vice-Presidents are also elected. They act as a sounding board for the current committee and are usually all the active members who are due to finish their studies at the University of York within the next year. All former Chairmen of UYCUA are considered to be honorary members for life, and are by convention elected as a Honorary Vice-President in the year after their term ends.
In addition, beginning in the academic year 2014-2015, the position of Honorary Member has been extended. These are for those members who society wishes to honour for more than one year, other than chairmen, who have this position automatically.
